67.4

案僧亮曰：別舉偏執者所說，欲障其過也。智秀曰：此下第三因緣，舉世人所說，因中有果故能生果，諮佛以求解也。道慧記曰：故如〈師子吼〉中亦作先已有難，此中引出，欲令佛廣明非有非無理也。

Sengliang notes: This specifically cites what is spoken by one who clings one-sidedly, wishing to block their error. Zhixiu says: Below, this is the third cause and condition: citing what worldly people say, that because there is fruit within the cause it can produce the fruit, inquiring of the Buddha to seek resolution. Daohui's Record states: Just as in the 'Lion's Roar' chapter there was also the objection of pre-existence, it is adduced here because he wishes the Buddha to broadly clarify the principle of neither existence nor non-existence.
