68.78

案僧亮曰：將明因果執異為難，若事同而說異，應是沾污也。已離三種以下，若從理說則不諍。說與見異，何得不諍耶？凡夫之色以下，明因果事不同，說不到故，不污不諍也。

Sengliang comments: Intending to clarify cause and effect, he grasps at differences to raise an objection. If the phenomenon were the same yet the explanation differed, it would be contaminated. From "having already abandoned the three kinds" onward, if explained according to the principle, then there is no dispute. But if the explanation differs from the perception, how could there not be dispute? From "the form of ordinary persons" onward, this clarifies that the matters of cause and effect are not identical; because the description does not apply to it, there is neither contamination nor dispute.
