案僧亮曰：欲明煩惱亦以過去煩惱為因也。如一器中者，無始以來起無量煩惱，種子中雖暫伏，遇愛則生也。

Sengliang comments: He wishes to clarify that afflictions also take past afflictions as their cause. As for 'just as within a single vessel', from beginningless time immeasurable afflictions have arisen; although temporarily subdued within the seeds, when encountering craving they arise.
