7.140

案道生曰：無相之說，譬之清水也。僧亮曰：以定水自資，不行亂境也。法瑤曰：飲以中道之水，不馳於二邊之散也。

Daosheng comments: "The preaching of signlessness is symbolized by pure water." Sengliang comments: "Nourishing oneself with the water of concentration, one does not wander into disordered realms." Fayao comments: "Drinking the water of the Middle Way, one does not rush into the distraction of the two extremes."
