7.46

案僧亮曰：一切經藏皆付迦葉比丘，得知前非後是也。法瑤曰：將欲設譬，使其分明知昔解必非，勸學今之所說，故先誡勅之。

Sengliang states: The entire treasury of sūtras is entrusted to the monk Kāśyapa, so that they may know the former was wrong and the latter is right. Fayao states: Intending to set forth a parable to make them clearly know that their former understanding was certainly wrong, and to encourage them to learn what is spoken now, he first admonishes and instructs them.
