案僧亮曰：稟承經教，洗除邪惑，譬大池浴也。僧宗曰：三世佛法通譬也。池中有水，水從池出。謂佛法之中有理有教，理教從佛法出也。寶亮曰：釋迦出世，從鹿園至雙樹，通譬池也。

Sengliang states: Receiving and adhering to the scriptural teachings to wash away wrong delusions is compared to bathing in a great pool. Sengzong states: This is a general metaphor for the Buddhadharma of the three periods of time. In the pool there is water, and the water comes out of the pool; this means that within the Buddhadharma there are principle and teaching, and principle and teaching come forth from the Buddhadharma. Baoliang states: Śākyamuni's appearance in the world, from the Deer Park to the Twin Trees, is generally compared to the pool.
