70.7

案僧亮曰：沙門、婆羅門二名，皆是寂靜之稱，法理常定，不知則亂、知則常靜。能知常與無常，則具二法。若離佛法，不偏之人及悉皆無也。智秀曰：第二意。

Sengliang states: "The two appellations 'śramaṇa' and 'brāhmaṇa' are both designations of tranquility. The principle of the Dharma is ever-calm; not knowing it brings turmoil, while knowing it brings eternal tranquility. If one can know permanence and impermanence, one is endowed with both dharmas. If one departs from the Buddha's Dharma, unbiased persons and [true practitioners] are completely absent." Zhixiu states: "This is the second import."
