案僧亮曰：第三，如木不由善惡，而性有曲直之用。五道性有善惡，隨生處而得名也。寶亮曰：第二，證以用有定，故無因緣。

Sengliang remarks: Third, just as wood does not depend on good or evil, yet its nature has the utility of being curved or straight; the five destinies have the natures of good and evil, and receive their names according to the place of birth. Baoliang remarks: Second, he proves that because function is fixed, there are no causes and conditions."
