案僧亮曰：敘阿難有三意。第一敘進止所為，有八不思議之德，必堪弘通；第二引證，明七佛弟子有八德者，皆通使流通；第三正釋文殊問。

Sengliang comments: The narrative concerning Ānanda has three purposes: first, it describes what he did in his conduct, that having eight inconceivable virtues, he would certainly be capable of propagating [the Dharma]; second, it cites evidence to clarify that disciples of the seven Buddhas who possessed eight virtues were all employed to propagate [the Dharma]; third, it directly explains Mañjuśrī's question.
