8.60

案僧宗曰：既逼令發心，便成菩薩，則上求佛慧、下度群生，功業轉勝，理不復畏天魔外道、異學眾也。寶亮曰：惡滅之後，成清淨福田也。智秀曰：第十七問經之力，能滅業障也。

Sengzong states: Having been compelled to generate the mind, one immediately becomes a bodhisattva, seeking the Buddha's wisdom above and saving sentient beings below; with merits and deeds becoming ever superior, in principle one no longer fears heavenly māras, non-Buddhists, or assemblies of heterodox teachers. Baoliang states: After evil is eliminated, one becomes a pure field of merit. Zhixiu states: The seventeenth question concerns the power of the sūtra to eradicate karmic obstacles.
