9.110

案道生曰：合譬也。佛經令人得戒定智慧，斯三法者本是得佛之要道也。彼以取世樂故，失本為餘也，取世樂故為棄也。

Daosheng comments: This applies the parable. The Buddha's sūtras lead people to attain morality, concentration, and wisdom; these three dharmas are fundamentally the essential path to attaining buddhahood. Because they grasp worldly pleasures, they lose the root, making it a mere leftover; grasping worldly pleasures is abandoning it.
