9.118

案僧亮曰：此別合上第三譬。上云多水，未被合也。何者？夫耶見有輕重，重者說無因果，人天都失；輕者謬計涅槃，或得人天也。僧宗曰：此乃舉第四譬而先合第五譬也。寶亮曰：此合第三譬也，闕不合初耳。

Sengliang comments: This separately applies the third parable above. The 'adding much water' spoken of above had not yet been applied. Why is this? Heterodox views have light and heavy degrees: the heavy expound that there are no causes and effects, losing both human and heavenly realms; the light mistakenly conceptualize nirvāṇa, yet may still attain the human or heavenly realms. Sengzong comments: This adduces the fourth parable while first applying the fifth parable. Baoliang comments: This applies the third parable, omitting only the application of the first.
