9.124

案道生曰：後佛出世，說真常也。僧亮曰：譬後佛出生也。凡夫橫求，理本常存，三世諸佛同共一道也。僧宗曰：上五譬明外道竊得常名而無常實。今明常名，始終還於佛也。前合譬已竟，此義生耳。

Daosheng comments: A subsequent Buddha appears in the world and expounds true permanence. Sengliang comments: This illustrates the birth of a subsequent Buddha. Though ordinary people seek perversely, the principle fundamentally abides permanently; the Buddhas of the three periods share the one same path. Sengzong comments: The five parables above explain that non-Buddhists stole the name of permanence without having the reality of permanence. Now it explains that the name of permanence from beginning to end returns to the Buddha. The previous application of the parables was already completed; this meaning arises here.
