案道生曰：法性照圓，理實常存，至於應感豈暫癈耶？僧亮曰：推本以證末，是則有為橫生滅耳。法性本來非有，故無滅也；如來亦本來非有，豈有滅也。

Daosheng comments: Dharmatā is completely luminous, and its principle truly abides permanently; as for responding to capacities, how could it cease for a moment? Sengliang comments: Inferring the root to verify the branch, conditioned things perversely arise and cease. Dharmatā is fundamentally nonexistent, so it has no extinction; the Tathāgata is also fundamentally nonexistent, so how could he have extinction?
