案寶亮曰：外道五通尚能延促自在，豈況如來具以自在示同毒樹。

Baoliang comments: Heterodox practitioners with the five supernormal knowledges can still extend or shorten [their lifespan] at will, how much more so the Tathāgata, who, fully possessing sovereignty, merely manifests as being like a poisonous tree.
