Sengliang comments: Relying on undefiled wisdom, it is said that when the Śrāvaka saṅgha attains undefiled wisdom, there is a continuity of permanence. Undefiled [wisdom] severs defilements so that they never arise again; this is called 'asaṃskṛta and immutable'. Attaining unmanifest precepts, they never perform evil; this refers to not storing the eight kinds of impure things. Not relying on consciousness means that defilements, having been severed, arise again, so it cannot be relied upon.
