Baoliang states: In India it is called vyākaraṇa. In the past, before the four truths were spoken, bestowal of prophecy merely predicted that the ten virtues lead to rebirth in heaven and the five precepts lead to rebirth as a human. From the Shared Teaching onwards, it clarifies the bestowal of prophecy regarding their future attainment of Buddhahood, land, and names; this is called the vyākaraṇa sūtra.
