Sengliang comments: Taking the Nirvāṇa Sūtra as the Dharma, if one cultivates it in the morning, one gains benefit in the evening; if one cultivates it in the evening, one gains benefit in the morning. Therefore it is said that it is without fixed time yet has immediate fruit. From 'seen by the Dharma-eye' to 'unconditioned and countless', it speaks of the eleven kinds of emptiness. From 'this Dharma is without dwelling' to 'ultimately subtle and wondrous', it explains emptiness to designate that the Dharma is capable of nirvāṇa. 'It is non-material yet severs materiality' speaks of the true. 'Yet it is also materiality' speaks of the response body. 'Not a cause' means it is not a productive cause. 'Is a cause' means wisdom acts as a revelatory cause for vimokṣa.
