Sengliang comments: Hongguang concealed his traces to guide the ignorant, in order to propagate this sūtra. As the time approached to reveal his traces, he showed that what he heard was not from far away. Baoliang comments: Having no further attachments, he simply formed a thought in his mind to test the Buddha. The Buddha immediately knew what he was thinking, which surpassed what his own mind had seen; thereupon he submitted. Thus Kauṇḍinya first challenged what he did, and the Buddha immediately revealed his traces.
