Sengzong states: The nineteen questions below praise the sūtra; the first seven questions concisely praise it, the first four praising the benefit of the cause and the latter three praising the benefit of the fruition. The sūtra possesses this power: it compels those who have not yet generated the mind to generate it. For example, if someone hears from buddhas and bodhisattvas but does not generate faith, and is about to become an icchantika, through the awe-inspiring power of the sūtra they see bad omens in dreams, and immediately generate the mind to become a bodhisattva. Baoliang states: This is based on the meaning of being able to eradicate evil and generate [good].
