下八偈中，初之一偈述前大眾第一偈意，明眾推己以為請主。次有兩偈述前大眾第二偈意，為之正請。次有三偈述前大眾第三偈意，彰請所為，為留佛住，身、口益物，此亦即明聖住有益。下有兩偈述前大眾第四偈意，明眾有苦，此亦即顯聖去有損。

Within the eight verses below, the first verse recounts the intent of the assembly's first verse above, explaining that the assembly put him forward to be the leader of the entreaty. Next, two verses recount the intent of the assembly's second verse above, making the formal entreaty on their behalf. Next, three verses recount the intent of the assembly's third verse above, revealing the purpose of the entreaty—namely, to have the Buddha remain and abide so that his bodily and vocal [actions] benefit beings; this also directly explains that the staying of the sage is beneficial. Below, two verses recount the intent of the assembly's fourth verse above, explaining that the assembly suffers; this also directly reveals that the departure of the sage causes detriment.
