自下第二重審文殊。文殊高人，喜有異見，故須審之。「復次文殊！為知而說、不知而說」，審定其言，為當知佛定是有為說同諸行？為當不知闇心妄說？「設使」已下，縱以示過。設知如來同於諸行，命報短促，不得名為天中之天，流轉不定，如聚落主，不得名為自在法王。

Next, the second part closely questions Mañjuśrī. Mañjuśrī is an exalted person who is prone to having exceptional views; therefore, he must be questioned. "Furthermore, Mañjuśrī, do you speak having known, or do you speak not knowing?" closely questions his words: Is it that you know the Buddha is definitely conditioned and speak of him as identical to conditioned phenomena, or is it that you do not know, speaking falsely from an obscured mind? "Even if..." and following grants [the premise] to show its fault. Even if you know the Tathāgata to be identical to conditioned phenomena, with a brief lifespan and retribution, he cannot be called the God among gods; transmigrating without stability like the head of a village, he cannot be called the sovereign Dharma King.
