Below, in response to the initial entreaty, in advising him to stop his grief: first, in response to the previous words that the Tathāgata does not wish to abide long, he explains that conditioned dharmas have many faults and are difficult to maintain; from "therefore..." downward, in response to the words in the text above, "how could I not weep?", he concludes by advising him to stop his grief. In the former: "you contemplate that all formations are mixed" advises him to contemplate suffering. "All dharmas are without self" advises contemplating non-self. "Impermanent and not abiding" advises contemplating impermanence. "This body has countless faults and perils" advises contemplating impurity. "Just like water bubbles" advises contemplating their emptiness. "Therefore you now should not weep" means that because conditioned dharmas possess all the preceding faults and cannot abide, one should not weep.
