10.20

上來第二廣辨其相，下就其人分其退住觀方等別。「如是等人則不復能斷善根」等，明其住義。如《雜心》中，煗等唯不斷滅善根作一闡提，猶作五逆、犯四重禁。此中乃至五逆四重亦皆不作，不作故住。「是人二」下，明其還沒觀方之義。先舉、次列、後辨可知。

The above was the second, broadly discerning their characteristics; below, with respect to those persons, it differentiates their distinctions of falling back, remaining, contemplating the directions, and so forth. "Such persons are then no longer able to sever roots of goodness," and so forth, clarifies the aspect of remaining. As in the Miśrakābhidharmahrdaya, [those at the stage of] warmth and so forth merely do not eradicate roots of goodness to become icchantikas, yet they still commit the five heinous acts and transgress the four grave prohibitions. Here, up to the five heinous acts and the four graves, they also do not commit any of them; because they do not commit them, they remain. From "this person is two" downward clarifies the meaning of their falling back and contemplating the directions. First introducing, next listing, and afterward discerning can be understood.
