2.16

第四重顯能觀勝中，初先正嘆，下牒結之。前中先喻，上說象跡廣破故勝，此說秋耕永盡故勝。下合可知。下牒結中，先牒耕喻，乘言便故；次牒跡喻，「於諸想」下總合顯勝。

In the fourth [section], which reiterates and reveals the superiority of the ability to contemplate, first there is the direct praise, and below it is reiterated and concluded. In the former part, first is a simile: above, the elephant's footprint was said to be superior because of its extensive refutation, whereas here autumn plowing is said to be superior because of its complete eradication. The application below can be understood. In reiterating and concluding below, it first reiterates the plowing simile, taking advantage of the flow of words; next it reiterates the footprint simile, and from "among all concepts" onward, comprehensively applies it to reveal its superiority.
