上來第一拂去滅迹，明佛善有。自下第二迦葉領解，領解如來無祕藏義說滅彰小，論有顯大，故無祕藏。於中，初明如來無藏，「何以」下釋如來昔日說小隱大故有密語，心無悋惜故無祕藏。「如幻」已下舉世祕藏，彰佛不同。下佛述讚，「善哉」讚也。「如來無藏」是述可也。「何以」下釋，有九復次：一明如來言無隱覆故無祕藏、二心無慳悋故無祕藏、三法無缺少故無祕藏、四無所貪惜故無祕藏、五慈愛深重故無祕藏、六惡根永盡故無祕藏、七言無過失故無祕藏、八量化以宜故無祕藏、九法雨等潤故無祕藏。

The preceding was the first part, clearing away the traces of extinction to explain that the Buddha truly exists. From here below is the second part: Kāśyapa's expression of understanding. He expresses understanding that the Tathāgata has no secret treasury: speaking of extinction makes the small known, and discussing existence reveals the great, hence there is no secret treasury. Within this: first, he explains that the Tathāgata has no treasury; from "why is this?" onward, he explains that because the Tathāgata in the past spoke of the small and concealed the great, there were secret words, but because his mind lacks stinginess, there is no secret treasury. From "like an illusion" onward, he adduces the secret treasuries of the world to reveal that the Buddha is not the same. Below, the Buddha affirms and praises him: "excellent!" is the praise. "The Tathāgata has no treasury" is the confirmation. From "why is this?" onward, it explains this with nine "furthermore" passages: first, explaining that because the Tathāgata's words have no concealment, he has no secret treasury; second, because his mind has no stinginess, he has no secret treasury; third, because the Dharma has no deficiency, he has no secret treasury; fourth, because he has nothing he covets or hoards, he has no secret treasury; fifth, because his loving-kindness is profound, he has no secret treasury; sixth, because evil roots are forever exhausted, he has no secret treasury; seventh, because his words have no fault, he has no secret treasury; eighth, because he measures his conversion according to what is fitting, he has no secret treasury; ninth, because the Dharma rain moistens equally, he has no secret treasury.
