Second, revealing the distinctions among the questions. The questions are distinguished into six types: (1) doubt-questions, also called asking-questions, as when saying "How is long life attained?" and so forth; (2) seeking-questions, as when saying "May the Buddha open the subtle and secret," and so forth; (3) objection-questions, as when saying "If the three vehicles lack nature," and so forth; (4) reproach-questions, as when saying "If he cuts off doubt, why does he not explain definitively?" and so forth; (5) praise-questions, as when saying "The great refuge of sentient beings," and so forth—Kāśyapa wishes to object, but first concedes in order to take away, offering praise, and therefore, though praise, it constitutes a question; (6) humble questions, as in the text below saying "Now wishing to ask about the aggregates, I lack wisdom," and so forth—humbling oneself as incapable and thereby initiating the subsequent exposition, hence called humble questions. The distinctions among the questions are thus.
