In [the section showing that] the aggregates differ from the nature, the difference is distinguished in terms of wisdom: the five aggregates are conceivable, while buddha-nature is unfathomable; thus they are not the same. Within this, there is first an analogy, next an exposition of the Dharma in terms of it, and from "by this meaning" down, a conclusion that the aggregates can be killed. In the analogy, "a person" is an analogy for one who seeks the nature; hearing that the body has the nature is called "knowing of the buried treasure"; using one's own luminous mind to contemplate the aggregates and seek the nature is called "taking a sharp pickaxe and digging straight down into the ground"—an upright intention is called "straight." "Passing straight through boulders, sand, and gravel without difficulty" explains that characteristics differ from the nature; the fine aspects within the aggregates are called boulders, sand, and gravel; thought penetrating completely is called passing through without difficulty. From "only until reaching" down, he distinguishes that the nature differs from characteristics; the nature is like diamond, and emotional consciousness failing to enter reality is called "reaching diamond," unable to pierce through; the true meaning transcends emotional consciousness, hence it is said that the diamond cannot be broken by knives or axes.
