In the next verse, the first two lines clarify that this true refuge is what bodhisattvas practice and is therefore praised by the Buddha; the latter two lines clarify that this true refuge is what the Buddha has realized and is therefore lauded by the Buddha. In the first two lines, the Buddha's praise is first clarified: because the Tathāgata previously praised the single essence as the unexcelled, foremost, and most venerable, it says, "This path is praised by the Buddha." "The place where those of correct advance dwell at peace" brings out what is praised, clarifying that it is the place where bodhisattvas of correct vigorous exertion dwell at peace. In the latter two lines, what is lauded is first adduced: this single refuge is not only the place where those of correct advance dwell at peace, but is also what the Buddhas, the correctly and completely enlightened ones, have realized and seen. Next, the Buddha's praise is clarified: because it has been realized and seen by the correctly and completely enlightened ones, it is lauded by the Buddha. In the first pair, the Buddha's praise is clarified first, and what is praised is brought out second; in the latter pair, what is lauded is adduced first, and the Buddha's praise is clarified second—these are the two aspects of the text.
