下佛對之，教其甄簡。於中初略菩薩應作，「如是思」下廣教甄簡。略中有三：一勸捨昔別，不應如諸聲聞、凡夫分別三寶；二「於此」下勸學一體，於中先明大無三別，「所以」下釋，釋相可知；三「為欲化」下會通昔別，為化說三，正會昔別。「若欲」下勸。

Below, the Buddha responds to him, instructing him to make distinctions. Therein, first what the bodhisattva should do is briefly stated; from "reflecting in this way" downward, he extensively instructs him to make distinctions. In the brief section there are three parts: first, he encourages relinquishing the past distinct [marks], [stating that] one should not differentiate the Three Jewels as do śrāvakas and ordinary beings; second, from "in this" downward, he encourages learning the single essence, wherein he first clarifies that the great has no three distinctions, and from "for what reason" downward he explains it, the characteristics of which explanation can be understood; third, from "in order to transform" downward, he integrates and reconciles the past distinct [marks], [stating that] speaking of three was for the sake of transforming [beings], which directly reconciles the past distinct [marks]. From "if one wishes" downward, he encourages [them].
