第二段中，初明眾生不學故癈，「唯菩薩」下簡聖異凡。前中初法，「不知」無解，「懶墮」無行。次喻，後合。「哀哉」已下如來傷歎，「當來可畏」傷其學小，「苦哉」已下傷不習大。聖簡下中，初明菩薩自取實義，後為他說。

In the second section, first it clarifies that sentient beings do not study it, hence it falls into disuse; from "Only bodhisattvas..." downward distinguishes the noble from the ordinary. In the former part, first is the Dharma: "not knowing" is lacking understanding; "lazy and remiss" is lacking practice. Next is the simile, and then the matching. From "Alas!" downward, the Tathāgata laments: "The future is fearful" laments their studying the small; from "How bitter!" downward laments their not practicing the great. Within the part distinguishing the noble below, first it clarifies that bodhisattvas grasp the true meaning for themselves, and afterward explain it for others.
