4.227

前中，「若生有佛性者」牒佛前言，「佛與眾生有何差別」約性徵相，性理既同，眾生共佛有何差別？「如是說」下結以顯過，佛同眾生上下混濫，名多過咎。

In the former, "if beings have buddha-nature" cites the Buddha's earlier words; "what difference is there between the Buddha and sentient beings?" challenges the marks based on the nature: since the principle of the nature is identical, what difference is there between sentient beings and the Buddha? From "if it is spoken like this" below concludes to reveal the fault: if the Buddha is identical with sentient beings, higher and lower are confused and confounded, which is called "many faults."
