自下第二隨機巧說，答上問中「云何說者增如月初」。准此驗前，前問顛倒，若正，應言「增如初月」。亦復不足，若具，應言「云何說者增長眾生，如世父母教於初生十六月兒」，小兒初生十六月時言語未了，父母為教，示同其言；佛亦如是，為教眾生，先同不正，後示正語。文中有四：一立喻反問、二迦葉正答、三約喻顯法反迦葉、四迦葉正答，先答、後釋。

From here, second, skillful teaching according to capacity answers the question above: "How does the speaker increase like the beginning of the month?" Verifying the preceding by this, the preceding question was inverted: if correct, it should say "increase like the new moon." Moreover, it is still insufficient: if complete, it should say: "How does the speaker cause sentient beings to grow, just as worldly parents teach an infant sixteen months after birth?" When a young infant is sixteen months after birth, its speech is not yet distinct; the parents, in order to teach it, manifest the same words as it; the Buddha is also like this: in order to teach sentient beings, he first conforms to improper speech and later shows correct words. In the text there are four parts: first, setting up a metaphor to question in turn; second, Kāśyapa's direct answer; third, using the metaphor to reveal the doctrine to question Kāśyapa in turn; fourth, Kāśyapa's direct answer, first answering and later explaining.
