In the second section, there are also three phrases: First, it adduces the matter of worldly people who do not study: "Just as a prince has nothing that he cultivates or practices" clarifies his autonomy; "failing in whatever he undertakes" reveals the presence of suffering born of ignorance; "this too is autonomy" concludes by clarifying the first line [of the verse]; and "ignorant and ever suffering" concludes by clarifying the latter line. Second, from "Just so" onward, it challenges the verse on that basis: "If one says autonomy, the meaning is also not established" challenges the latter half of the verse, clarifying that for one who has autonomy, ease and joy are not established—for although he is autonomous, because of the suffering born of ignorance, the meaning of joy is not established. "If one says dependence on another, the meaning is not established" challenges the first half of the verse, clarifying that for one who has suffering, dependence on another is not established—for although this person has the suffering born of ignorance, he is not subject to a teacher, and for this reason, for one who has suffering, the meaning of dependence is not established. Third, from "For this reason" onward, it concludes that [the teaching] is non-exhaustive. These two sections are now concluded.
