4.58

下嘆勸學，於中五句：前四嘆勝，後一勸學。前四句中，初明由經得知佛性；二「以是義」下結嘆經勝，以聞是經知佛性故，說《大涅槃》為祕密藏；三「增長」下明向由經增長法身，從小至大名增法身；四「以能長」下結嘆經勝，以能長養法身大義，故得名為大般涅槃。

Below is the praise and the exhortation to learn, in which there are five phrases: the first four praise its superiority, and the last one exhorts learning. Among the first four phrases: first, it explains that through the sūtra one comes to know the buddha-nature; second, from 'for this reason' onward, it concludes by praising the sūtra's superiority, because by hearing this sūtra one comes to know the buddha-nature, the Mahāparinirvāṇa is spoken of as a secret treasury; third, from 'increases and grows' onward, it explains that through the sūtra the dharmakāya was previously nurtured—advancing from the lesser to the greater is termed 'increasing the dharmakāya'; fourth, from 'because it can nurture' onward, it concludes by praising the sūtra's superiority, because being able to nurture the great meaning of the dharmakāya, it is therefore able to be called the Mahāparinirvāṇa.
