第三難中，迦葉執事徵理以難。如來若說下苦生樂，「未見有人當受千罰，初一下時已生樂想」，初一下時不生樂想，云何說言下苦生樂？下苦之處已不生樂，明知世人樂處生樂，樂處生故非一切苦。

In the third objection, Kāśyapa clings to concrete facts to contest the principle as an objection: If the Tathāgata says that inferior suffering produces pleasure, 'we have never seen a person who is to receive a thousand punishments, when the very first blow lands, already give rise to the notion of pleasure'; since at the very first blow the notion of pleasure does not arise, how can one say that inferior suffering produces pleasure? Since in a place of inferior suffering pleasure does not arise, one clearly knows that worldly people give rise to pleasure where there is pleasure; and since it arises where there is pleasure, not all is suffering.
