5.310

第四番中，先舉二瞋，次列，後治。若藉過去久遠因緣而生瞋者，去因玄遠，瞋容輕微，故慈能治；若藉現在因緣生瞋，親相起發，瞋必增強，修悲方治。

In the fourth round, it first cites the two kinds of hatred, next lists them, and then gives the remedies. If one gives rise to hatred relying on causes and conditions from the distant past, the cause being remote, the hatred may be slight, so benevolence can treat it; if one gives rise to hatred relying on present causes and conditions, being directly provoked, the hatred must intensify, so only cultivating compassion can treat it.
