Next, he sets forth the objection. The phrasing of the objection has two parts: First, it explains that because these three are eternal, there is no attainment; second, from "Now, as for the Path, it is not form" onward, it explains that these three dharmas are markless and without attainment. In the former, there are four sentences: First, it explains that if these three are attained, then they are impermanent; second, from "Why?" onward, it explains that because these three dharmas are eternal, there is no attainment, first inquiring and then explaining, where the explanation first presents the dharma and then illustrates it with an analogy; third, from "Just as worldly things" onward, it establishes the preceding first sentence explaining that what is attained is impermanent, first by analogy and then by application; fourth, from "If a dharma were eternal" onward, it establishes the preceding latter sentence explaining that what is eternal is without attainment, first by dharma and then by analogy. In the second objection concerning being markless and without attainment, it first explains that the dharma of the Path is markless and without attainment, and then extends this by analogy to bodhi and nirvāṇa.
