Third, from "although it can be seen" downward, based on that one form, visibility and the like are refuted and eliminated. "Although it can be seen and bound" cites from above what was analyzed. Above there were six phrases; citing the first and the last, it thus only says "seen and bound." Discussed in terms of coarse marks, the marks of form are visible and up to bindable, but in subtle analysis they are absent. Explaining existence while also encompassing non-existence, it thus says "although." From "its nature does not abide" downward, existence is overturned to reveal non-existence. The nature of form is impermanent: it exists for a single thought-moment—arising first, abiding next, altering subsequently, and perishing finally; hence it is said "does not abide." Because it does not abide, it cannot be seen, and up to cannot be bound.
