能斷疑中，初牒次釋，有七復次：第一斷除名義中疑、第二斷除佛果上疑、第三斷除三乘中疑、第四斷除法相中疑、第五斷除情計中疑、第六斷除佛生上疑、第七斷除世事中疑。七中，初三聞思共斷，後四單說聞經斷疑。

In [explaining] "being able to sever doubt," it first restates and then explains; there are seven restatements: First, severing doubts regarding names and meanings. Second, severing doubts regarding the buddha fruit. Third, severing doubts regarding the three vehicles. Fourth, severing doubts regarding the characteristics of dharmas. Fifth, severing doubts regarding conceptual reckonings. Sixth, severing doubts regarding the Buddha's birth. Seventh, severing doubts regarding worldly matters. Among the seven, the first three are severed jointly by hearing and reflection, while the latter four speak solely of severing doubt by hearing the sūtra.
