In the specific part below, it first asks to raise the issue: in the past it was said that they attain them, so by what meaning is it now said that they do not attain them? Below, it responds and explains it: therein, it first clarifies that pratyekabuddhas do not attain them, and then explains śrāvakas. Concerning pratyekabuddhas, it first generally clarifies that they lack the four unobstructed knowledges; from "Why are they silent?" onward, it specifically clarifies their non-attainment; from "Therefore, pratyekabuddhas entirely lack [them]" onward, it summarizes and concludes it. In the first general part, "Bodhisattvas cultivate the four unobstructed knowledges to deliver sentient beings" cites the great to reveal the small; "Pratyekabuddhas cultivate quiescence; if they transform sentient beings, they merely manifest supernormal powers and remain silent without speaking; how could they possess them?" distinguishes the small to differentiate it from the great. In the specific part, it first clarifies the lack of phrasing and delightful discourse; "Why are they silent?" queries what preceded to initiate what follows. Below, it responds and explains it: therein, it first clarifies that pratyekabuddhas cannot preach the Dharma to cause people to attain the heat [stage], nor can they even cause people to bring forth the mind toward sambodhi; from "Why?" onward, it explains that it is because they have no scriptures. From "Therefore" onward, it concludes: because they cannot preach, they lack phrasing and delightful discourse.
