7.100

為「名聞」者，施求稱譽；為「利養」者，以利求利；「家法」施者，承襲父祖，自無誠意；為「天欲」者，求報心施；為「憍慢」者，為令乞人，於己敬畏；為「勝他」者，為欲勝過其餘施主；為「來報」者；為得未來人中樂果，并期他人交來報己。

As for 'for fame,' it means giving to seek praise; 'for gain,' seeking profit by means of profit; 'family tradition' giving, following the heritage of fathers and grandfathers without sincerity of one's own; 'for heavenly desires,' giving with a mind seeking reward; 'out of arrogance,' giving to make the beggar respect and fear oneself; 'to surpass others,' wishing to surpass other donors; 'for future reward,' to obtain joyful karmic fruits among humans in the future, as well as anticipating that others in turn will repay oneself.
