備德顯中，「云何復名」重問起發，下對釋之。明具常、樂、我、淨義故，名之為大。先明我義，初法後喻。法中有四：一舉大我釋大涅槃、二舉自在釋成大我、三廣顯自在成彼大我、四就大我結大涅槃。

In revealing it by being endowed with virtues: "Why is it again called [great]?" reiterates the question to initiate [the discourse], and below answers and explains it. It clarifies that because it is endowed with the meanings of permanence, bliss, self, and purity, it is called great. First it clarifies the meaning of self, first with the dharma and then with the metaphor. In the dharma there are four [points]: first, raising the great self to explain mahāparinirvāṇa; second, raising sovereignty to establish the great self; third, broadly revealing sovereignty to establish that great self; fourth, concluding with mahāparinirvāṇa in terms of the great self.
