就初段中，琉璃先請，「既蒙聽許兼被誡勅」經家序列。如來前言「隨意所問」是蒙聽也，「是故應當專心能受」是誡勅也。即白「云何聞所不聞」正是請辭。

Within the first section, Vaiḍūryaprabha first requests: "Having received permission and also having been admonished" is the sūtra compiler's narrative. The Tathāgata's previous words, "ask as you wish," is receiving permission; "therefore you should concentrate your mind and be capable of receiving it" is the admonition. His immediately saying "What is meant by hearing what is not heard?" is precisely the words of his request.
