次釋天眼，先問後解。解中，初言「菩薩修經先取明」等修通方便，修之方法與天耳同，「以修習故得異眼」下明修所成，准前天耳亦應有其兩修兩成，今略不辯，「得異眼根異聲聞」等略明不同。

Next, the divine eye is explained, first asking and then explaining. Within the explanation, it first says, "A bodhisattva practicing the sūtra first apprehends brightness..." and so forth, which is the expedient means for cultivating the superknowledge; the method of cultivating it is identical to that of the divine ear. The passage from "Because of cultivation and practice, one attains a distinct eye" onward clarifies what is achieved through cultivation; based on the previous divine ear, there should also be two cultivations and two achievements, but this is now omitted and not distinguished. "Attaining a distinct eye faculty that is distinct from śrāvakas..." and so forth briefly clarifies their difference.
