Eighth, "seeing visible forms and knowing faculties," unlike the two vehicles. Therein, it takes the opportunity to clarify knowing faculties by touching robes. This one further point combines two meanings: viewed from the preceding it still clarifies being able to see what was not seen; viewed from what follows it reveals being able to know what was not known. The text has four distinct parts: 1. clarifying that seeing visible forms with the eyes, one knows the greatness or smallness of faculties; 2. clarifying that touching robes, one knows the goodness or evil of faculties; 3. the passage from "By this meaning" onward concludes the meaning of knowing: "For this reason, what was not known in the past is now known" concludes the preceding knowing of faculties by touching robes as knowing; "because of a single seeing, what was not known in the past is now known" concludes the preceding knowing of faculties by seeing visible forms as knowing, and to distinguish it from knowing faculties by touching robes it says "a single seeing"; 4. the passage from "By this knowing" onward concludes the meaning of seeing: precisely because of the meaning of knowing faculties by seeing visible forms, what was not seen in the past is now seen.
