7.370

釋許滅中，初為惡人許魔當滅，「懸見」已下明為善人許魔當滅。前中初先正為惡人鬪諍違佛，故佛唱滅。「因如是」下約前唱滅乘明愚、智，取、捨，得、失。「是故我於毘舍離」下明己昔日唱滅所由。初段可知。

In explaining his assent to extinction, he first assented to the Māra that he would become extinct for the sake of evil persons; from 'foreseeing' onwards, he clarifies that he assented to the Māra that he would become extinct for the sake of good persons. In the former part, it was primarily because evil persons quarreled and went against the Buddha that the Buddha proclaimed extinction. From 'because of this' onwards, based on the previous proclamation of extinction, he takes the opportunity to explain foolishness and wisdom, grasping and abandoning, gain and loss. From 'For this reason, I, in Vaiśālī' onwards, he clarifies the reason why he formerly proclaimed extinction. The initial section can be known.
