7.70

自下第四遠答德王最初所問。無畏初先領前舉上，請佛酬答。「我今已知造業得生」是領前也，「光明遍照普為憐」等是舉上也，「如來若」等是請答也。下佛答之，先讚德王勅聽許說，「有因緣」下正為宣說。於中先舉到、不到等類答前問，「聞所不聞亦如是」下當問正答。

From here on is the fourth, answering from afar King of Virtuous Light's initial question. Abhaya first acknowledges the prior and raises the preceding, requesting the Buddha to reply. "I now know that by performing karma one obtains rebirth" acknowledges the prior; "The radiant light shines universally, taking pity on all" and so forth raises the preceding; "If the Tathāgata..." and so forth requests the reply. Below, the Buddha answers him; he first praises King of Virtuous Light and commands him to listen, permitting the exposition. Below "Because there are causes and conditions," he formally proclaims it. In this, he first adduces reaching and not reaching and so forth by analogy to answer the preceding question; below "Hearing what was unheard is also like this," he gives the direct answer to the question itself.
