8.88

上來辯德，「若須陀」下，品中第二嘆經令學，於中有三：一明信謗損益、二「德王白」下問答廣辯信謗之相、三德王領解。初中，「須陀乃至菩薩信是語者，得入涅槃」彰信有益。「若不信者，輪迴生死」明謗有損。

The virtues have been explained above; from "If a srotāpanna..." onward is the second part of the chapter, praising the sūtra to cause study, in which there are three parts: first, explaining the loss and benefit of faith and slander; second, from "Virtue King said to the Buddha..." onward, an extensive explanation through questions and answers of the marks of faith and slander; third, Virtue King's receptive understanding. In the first: "from srotāpannas up to bodhisattvas, those who have faith in these words will attain entry into nirvāṇa" shows that faith has benefit; "if one does not have faith, one will transmigrate in birth and death" explains that slander brings loss.
