第二段中，先喻、後合。喻中，「如人財在異方」明其非此。「雖不現」下彰其非彼。於中，初先假問顯之，「何以」下釋。合中，「佛性亦復如是」合前財也。言「非此」者，合在異方。證會在當，故言非此。言「非彼」者，合言我許。「以定得」下，合前定得。

In the second section, first there is an analogy, and afterwards the application. Within the analogy, "Just as a person's wealth is in another place" explains that it is not here. From "Although it is not apparent" downward illustrates that it is not there. Within this, it is first revealed through a hypothetical question, and explained from "Why?" downward. In the application, "The buddha-nature is also like this" corresponds to the wealth mentioned earlier. Saying "not here" corresponds to being in another place: because realization and encounter lie in the future, it is said to be not here. Saying "not there" corresponds to the words "in my possession." From "Because it is definitely attained" downward corresponds to the definite attainment mentioned earlier.
